The EZEE LOOP comes in either a 3' or 4'
length. The 3' length was chosen with smaller boats in mind
such as bass or crappie boats and will hold on stumps 2'
beneath the surface of the water. The 4' length is intended
for boats with higher decks including pontoon and deck boats.
The 3' EZEE LOOP being smaller is a little easier to use and
store. The 4' EZEE LOOP provides a longer reach from the
higher deck but will also can be used to reach stumps that are
3' beneath the surface. Additionally, the 4' EZEE LOOP will
fit around larger stumps. Bottom line it is a person's
personal preference as to the length of EZEE LOOP they
desire.
The EZEE LOOP consists of a handle with eyelets
on each end. A length of 1/8 galvanized cable is attached to
the eyelet on one end of the cable and to the other end of the
cable is attached a length of nylon rope. The rope and cable
are passed through the eyelet to form a loop. The loop is then
cinched tight around the stump by pulling on the nylon rope.
All the forces are on the cable and the eyelet. The rope is
then tied to a boat cleat. Detailed Instructions for typing to
stumps.
The galvanized cable is used because it
provides the stiffness to easily form and maintain a loop and
the weight so that it does not tend to float when placed over
a stump beneath the water. Attached to the cable on the 3'
EZEE LOOP is a 1/4" length of nylon rope. The breaking
strength of the cable is listed at 1,700 pounds and the 1/4"
nylon rope is listed at 1,100 pounds, adequate strength to
hold a boat in high wind conditions. Since the wind would
create a greater force on a larger boat, a length of 5/16"
nylon rope is used with the 4' EZEE LOOP. The breaking
strength for the 5/16" nylon rope is listed at 2,000
pounds. |
To use the EZEE LOOP to tie a boat to a
bridge piling, the nylon rope and wire cable are pulled
through the eyelet so that the loop is removed. The overall
length of the handle, wire cable and nylon rope for both the
3' and 4' EZEE LOOPs are about 15' long and will easily reach
around a 4' diameter (12.6' circumference) piling. Most bridge
pilings are 4' diameter or less. Detailed
instructions for typing to pilings.
